Photography and video

Our photography and videography style, and the release form and event signage you need.

Photography and video both need a signed release form from the people featured, and signage at large events. The forms and signage are listed under Release forms and signage.

Photography

Photography has a powerful impact on LSTM’s audiences. It provides viewers with a quick and distinctive impression of our work and is a critical element in telling its stories.

Whenever possible, photos should be taken in both vertical and horizontal orientations. Avoid static photos (“grip and grins”); rather, photographs should be storytelling in nature, and capture action and interaction. The idea of this documentary style of photography is to capture images that allow the audience to sneak a peek at a moment in time, allowing them to be a participant, rather than just an observer. Another point to consider when shooting photography is to include shots with a wider field of view to allow for a variety of crop ratios, vertical or horizontal.

Important

If you are doing a photoshoot, you must have your subjects complete a Photography and Publicity Release Form.

If you are carrying out photography at a large event, please ensure you notify attendees by clearly displaying signage.

Videography

Videography is an equally powerful medium for telling LSTM’s story, capturing both sound and movement to convey our work with immediacy and emotion. Much like photography, video offers viewers a window into our activities, fostering a deeper connection with our mission and its global impact.

Whenever possible, capture footage from multiple angles and distances (wide, medium, and close-up shots) to showcase both the broader context and finer details. This dynamic style ensures our videos feel authentic and engaging, drawing the audience into each narrative and encouraging participation rather than passive observation.

Important

If you are filming with participants, you must have your subjects complete a Photography and Publicity Release Form.

If you are carrying out videography at a large event, please ensure you notify attendees by clearly displaying signage.
